About the Role

The Teaching Assistant works directly with students with ASD and developmental disabilities, providing academic, social, and behavioral support. This role utilizes applied behavior analysis (ABA) methods to enhance skill levels and reduce challenging behaviors. Responsibilities include assisting with behavior support plans, data collection, documentation, and participating in agency activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction on IEP goals and objectives using ABA methodology, based on the student's level of need.
• Collect and maintain data on academic, social, and behavioral goals.
• Assist with student transitions and follow behavioral protocols using ABA methods to decrease challenging behaviors.
• Provide 1:1 support to students as needed.
• Oversee student safety and well-being.
• Maintain and regularly compile data and documentation for supervisor review.
• Participate in treatment team activities, including meetings, trainings, and committees.
• Contribute to a positive work environment through collaboration and communication aligned with agency culture, values, and mission.
• Demonstrate excellent work attendance by being punctual and reliable.
• Ensure compliance with government and agency regulations and operating standards.
• Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements and HIPAA laws.
• Maintain required documentation.
• Respond to medical emergencies and log all incidents.
• Participate in evacuation drills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field, or an Associate degree with an RBT certificate.
• Up to 1 year of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Must be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OCFS due to regular and substantial unsupervised physical contact with individuals receiving services.
