About the Role
As a Product Engineer - Working Student, you will help rethink Feedback and Team Reviews by learning the current process, identifying friction points, and transforming ideas into testable product experiences. The role focuses on frontend development with React or Next.js, with the potential to grow validated concepts into standalone internal applications.
Responsibilities
- Understand Feedback and Team Reviews by speaking with process owners, employees, and managers.
- Identify friction points and prioritize problems to solve.
- Translate requirements, questions, and constraints into user journeys and an MVP.
- Build frontend experiences using React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
- Compare directions, test assumptions, and iterate based on evidence.
- Design accessible and intuitive flows for diverse teams.
- Evolve validated concepts into standalone applications, considering APIs, data, authentication, privacy, deployment, and integrations.
- Utilize AI tools as a co-pilot for development.
- Demonstrate work, explain decisions and trade-offs, and document findings and technical choices.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled at a university.
- Available for a part-time role.
- Built web applications with React, Next.js, or a similar frontend framework (coursework, internships, hackathons, personal projects, and portfolio work accepted).
- Product-minded with a focus on user goals and accessibility.
- Ability to turn ambiguous problems into simple, useful solutions and iterate.
- Curiosity for full-stack development and AI.
- Ability to use AI-assisted tools while understanding and owning the results.
- Clear, team-first communication skills.
- Ability to explain end-to-end development and make technical choices understandable.
- Ability to ask for input and respond well to feedback.
- Some experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Python, databases, APIs, serverless functions, Supabase, Firebase, AWS, or comparable technologies is a plus.
- Basic understanding of OAuth, SSO, permissions, or responsible data handling is a plus.
