About the Role
The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Product Manager to translate business needs into actionable product requirements and drive execution within a cross-functional pod. This role focuses on systems and workflows for content programming and back office operations, with an emphasis on content decisioning and workflow optimization. The back office portion requires a deep understanding of data governance and controls. This role ensures initiatives are well-defined, tracked, and delivered to support Scripps' transformation goals, acting as a liaison between business stakeholders, creative teams, data, and software engineering.
Responsibilities
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable product requirements.
- Own the day-to-day management of the product backlog in Atlassian (Jira), including writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritization.
- Partner with engineering to plan sprints, track delivery progress, and unblock issues.
- Support tracking of milestones and impact, escalating risks or hygiene issues proactively.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and ensure solutions meet intended problems.
- Identify interdependencies between initiatives and other pods' work, flagging conflicts early.
- Contribute to roadmap planning and sequencing discussions, using data and user insight for prioritization.
- Communicate progress and blockers clearly to the Product Lead and stakeholders.
- Build low-fidelity prototypes and mockups (e.g., Figma, wireframes) to validate concepts with stakeholders.
- Use prototypes to pressure-test assumptions and surface edge cases.
- Identify opportunities within initiatives for AI or automation to improve speed, quality, or cost, and help scope them.
- Identify systemic solutions to business problems.
- Partner with the AI/architecture team to understand platform capabilities (e.g., Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio) and translate them into practical product use cases.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Generally, 3+ years of digital and product management experience or related field.
