About the Role

The Analytics Engineering & Governance Enablement (AEGE) team builds the standards and tooling that the broader analytics engineering community depends on to ship trusted data products. We own the dbt services powering N26's core data warehouse and lakehouse, including CI/CD pipelines, runtime configuration, data quality standards, and productivity tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve core dbt services, including CI/CD infrastructure, performance improvements, and quality standards.
  • Serve as the engineering interface for the analytics engineering community, unblocking practitioners and improving shared patterns.
  • Enhance data quality and governance infrastructure, contributing to services for anomaly detection, freshness monitoring, drift detection, and data contract enforcement.
  • Shape data governance practices, driving standards for data ownership, data product thinking, and contract-first design.
  • Contribute to Python-based tooling through feature extensions, integrations, and observability utilities.
  • Collaborate with the data platform team on shared infrastructure direction, representing the analytics perspective.

Requirements

  • Ability to scope problems quickly and find root causes.
  • Proficiency in writing typed, tested, and maintainable Python code.
  • Strong SQL skills, including reading query plans, identifying performance bottlenecks, and setting high standards for production SQL.
  • Community and craft orientation, with the ability to help others and influence without authority.
  • Proven track record of improving reliability, quality, or productivity in a data organization.
  • Experience with dbt at scale, including macros, hooks, incremental models, project structure, and CI/CD integration.
  • Ability to read unfamiliar codebases, understand functionality, identify issues, and implement fixes.
