About the Role

The Project Assistant will operate in complex security environments, including restricted access, and is responsible for ensuring the continuity of life-saving malaria services. This includes supporting case management, reporting, stock monitoring, and volunteer supervision under a Health Project funded by GFATM, following the guidance of the Project Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Activity planning, implementation, and review to ensure the achievements of malaria project outputs are in accordance with project’s objectives.
• Assist in planning and preparing work plan and field activities of malaria project under access constraints.
• Conduct report collection, checking and verification for volunteer activities, and submit reports to the supervisor on a monthly basis.
• Facilitate capacity building trainings and workshops for malaria volunteers, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct regular and effective monitoring visits to assigned project villages and report findings with an action plan.
• Conduct health education sessions, behavior change communication (BCC), and awareness raising activities to promote community participation in malaria prevention and control.
• Submit monthly activity and narrative reports to the supervisor.
• Assist supervisor in budget estimation and cash forecasting for assigned project activities.
• Build and maintain operational access through coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and relevant actors.
• Assist in procurement of materials, supplies and maintenance of project equipment.
• Participate in project surveys and need assessments.
• Coordinate and collaborate with township focal persons and participate in malaria elimination activities.
• Initiate identification and mapping of Mobile Migrant Ethnic and Vulnerable populations (MMEVs) and submit updated information.
• Keep records of activities, and report regularly on programme progress.
• Support accountability to beneficiaries, particularly through child participation and complaints & response mechanisms.
• Ensure the programme benefits the poorest and most disadvantaged communities, especially MMEVs.
• Organize project intervention campaigns such as distribution of LLINs, Active Case Detection and Mass Malaria Screening.
• Assist and participate in necessary tasks related to program or operational sides assigned by line managers.
• Create and promote an environment where the Child Safeguarding Policy is effectively implemented.
• Understand and fulfill specific responsibilities in achieving compliance of Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy standards.
• Prevent fraud, bribery, and corruption within areas of responsibility, and report all incidents and concerns.

Requirements

• Contact with children and/or young people either frequently or intensively.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision in remote and conflict-affected areas.
• Willingness to travel and night-stop at field project villages, and work in difficult and challenging working environments with limited support.
• Experience and knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Sensitivity to the cultural & political environment, with experience of working in conflict affected areas.
• Experience of working in a team/willing to work with team.
• Adaptable and practical, diplomatic skills and behaviors.
• Ability to learn about cultural & political environments.
• Well-known local context and proficient in local language.
