About the Role
This role provides key support primarily to our non-contentious construction Partners and will be heavily involved in supporting construction projects throughout the construction life cycle, though there will be some exposure to construction disputes. This is an excellent opportunity for a law graduate to join a thriving and varied Construction practice, gaining outstanding experience daily with excellent mentorship and development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide general paralegal support on a variety of construction matters.
- Draft, collate, and organize collateral warranties and other ancillary documents.
- Collate document packs and assist with the preparation of contractual documentation.
- Bundle and engross documents and arrange electronic and/or hard copy execution.
- Handle routine client and/or third-party queries and report updates to the relevant fee earner.
- Assist with title due diligence and reporting, including collation and review of enquiries.
- Proofread and check internal and external documents.
- Conduct legal research.
- Assist with the team's knowledge management and know-how.
- Assist with the running of the team's construction helpline, including responding to legal queries.
- Organize and maintain accurate files both electronically and in hard copy.
- Support on contentious construction matters, including drafting correspondence and collating evidence bundles.
- Perform administrative tasks such as diarising and monitoring key dates.
- Facilitate client on-boarding by drafting engagement letters and corresponding with clients regarding AML documentation.
- Assist with preparing, reviewing, and sending out bills.
- Undertake other ad-hoc responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Must be available to start immediately.
- A relevant legal qualification – holding a degree (or post-graduate qualification) in law or a related field.
- Ideally some prior work experience, or a demonstrable understanding of construction / real estate law (showcasing dedicated study in these subjects, or work experiences/internships in relevant fields) – though not essential to be considered.
- Excellent communication skills – must be able to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of seniority and on both an internal and external basis.
- Able to work well under pressure and in keeping with deadlines.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong IT capabilities, including a good understanding of modern office software (in particular the Office 365 suite).
