About the Role
The Director, Operational Resilience Governance is part of the independent risk management function and accountable for enterprise-wide oversight and monitoring of Operational Resilience outcomes across RBC’s platforms. This includes monitoring adherence to Operational Resilience requirements and practices in line with regulatory requirements. The role will provide periodic reporting on program effectiveness and outcomes of operational resilience activities to senior management, and will develop and evolve the Operational Resilience strategy, embedding integrated outcomes across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop, oversee and drive the approach to monitoring policy adherence of Enterprise Operational Resilience practices associated to RBC’s critical operations.
- Provide independent oversight in determining RBC platforms’ adherence to Operational Resilience requirements and serve as the expert advisor on Operational Resilience requirements to drive continuous improvement.
- Engage Operational Resilience practitioners across the Enterprise Chief Controls Office and RBC platforms as part of assessing outcomes of business implementation of Operational Resilience requirements.
- Lead cross-GRM coordination and oversight of Operational Resilience outcomes across A&O, Tech & Cyber Risk, Third-Party Risk, Business Continuity and Incident & Crisis Management as well as broader GRM risk domains.
- Provide reporting to senior management on the outcomes of policy adherence monitoring and effectiveness of Operational Resilience outcomes across RBC platforms.
- Drive and implement the organizational strategy for integrating the Operational Resilience lens into broader Operational Risk tooling and resilience risk practices.
- Deliver training of Operational Resilience policy requirements across Enterprise Operational Resilience stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in education policy, skills strategy, workforce development, or related fields.
- Experience in financial services sector with a deep understanding of Operational Risk and underlying risk categories including Business Continuity, Third Party and Technology & Cyber.
- Deep understanding of risk management frameworks, control environments, and governance structures.
- Strong understanding of global regulatory expectations pertaining to Operational Resilience requirements.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience leading cross-functional or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with executive audiences.
