About the Role

As a Health & Safety Assurance Associate, you will make a significant contribution to the well-being of people across Westminster. You will be responsible for conducting detailed reviews of workplace Health & Safety management systems, identifying risks, benchmarking performance, and investigating incidents to determine lessons learned. Your role will involve data analysis, creating action plans for managers, and upskilling staff to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement. You will balance complex health & safety risks and compliance obligations to deliver meaningful impact to over 3,600 staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reviews of workplace Health & Safety management systems.
  • Identify risks and benchmark performance.
  • Investigate incidents to determine lessons learned.
  • Carry out data analysis of accidents.
  • Create plans for managers to action.
  • Upskill staff across the council through collaboration, training, and engagement.
  • Facilitate a culture of learning, development, and continuous improvement.
  • Balance complex health & safety risks and compliance obligations.

Requirements

  • Established professional with a Level 6 NVQ or NEBOSH Occupational Health and Safety Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Health & Safety professional in a large, complex organisation.
  • Confident in conducting inspections and audits.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and level-headed.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong communicator and team player.
  • Passionate about supporting the development of a modernised and resilient Health & Safety function.

Salary/Compensations

  • £42,912 - £57,495 per annum
  • Salary negotiable depending upon experience.
