About the Role
Lead the future of Building Control in one of London's most high-profile boroughs. The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea is seeking experienced and forward-thinking District Surveyors to play a pivotal role in delivering building safety, regulatory excellence, and service transformation within our Building Control Service. This is a rare opportunity for senior Building Control professionals to lead on complex, high-risk, and high-profile projects while helping shape the future of building safety in the post-Grenfell regulatory landscape.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational leadership across the service, ensuring compliance with evolving legislation while delivering a high-quality, customer-focused Building Control function.
- Lead the regulation of major developments.
- Oversee governance and compliance requirements.
- Manage and develop Building Control professionals.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, elected members, and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Chartered membership of CABE, CIOB, RICS or an equivalent professional body.
- Registration as a Class 3 Building Inspector.
- Extensive Building Control experience, including major, high-risk, and complex developments.
- Expert knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Safety legislation, and fire safety compliance.
- Experience leading regulatory services within a changing legislative environment.
- Proven success managing teams, budgets, performance, and service improvement initiatives.
- Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to influence senior decision-makers and regulators.
