About the Role

This role supports the Risk Function in safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units. The Economic Crime Team oversees consequence management and customer exits, ensuring economic crime risks are managed effectively and in line with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic direction for risk, including implementing up-to-date methodologies and processes.
  • Manage the risk department, overseeing colleagues, performance, priorities, objectives, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Manage relationships with risk stakeholders and maintain the quality of external third-party services.
  • Adhere to the Risk policy, standards, and frameworks, and maintain a robust control environment.
  • Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, using professional knowledge and skills to deliver business-impacting work.
  • Set objectives, coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors to create an environment for colleagues to thrive.
  • Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments.

  • Collaborate with other work areas and business-aligned support areas to stay updated on business activity and strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to solve problems creatively.
  • Communicate complex information, including sensitive or difficult-to-communicate content.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • Oversee the approach to consequence management and customer exits.
  • Ensure appropriate actions are taken when economic crime concerns are identified.
  • Balance regulatory requirements and customer outcomes.
  • Define and deliver the customer exit strategy.
  • Shape processes, guidance, and controls for consistent and effective customer exit management.

Requirements

  • Experienced in Risk management, with a focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating business risks.
  • Considerable stakeholder management skills, with experience building and maintaining relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of financial crime, including an understanding of relevant risks, controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, working effectively with Journey Owners and other stakeholders to deliver customer and business outcomes.
