About the Role

We are establishing the administrative backbone of our Germany National Sales Company (NSC) and seek a hands-on, strategic Director of General Management to build and lead core support functions from the ground up. This role combines leadership across Legal & Compliance, Data Privacy, Human Resources, IT, and Office Administration, ensuring a scalable, compliant, and efficient operational platform. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team in Germany and the European Regional Centre to localize frameworks and implement robust governance structures while supporting business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Build and Structure of Administration & Back Office Functions: Establish and lead administrative functions including Legal, Compliance, HR, IT, and Office Administration.
  • Design and implement organizational structures, policies, and operational processes.
  • Act as a key advisor to management on administrative and governance matters.
  • Ensure alignment with European Regional Centre standards and local German requirements.
  • Legal, Compliance and Data Privacy Oversight: Oversee all legal and compliance topics in coordination with internal and external counsel.
  • Ensure implementation of compliance frameworks including GDPR, competition law, and corporate governance.
  • Establish and monitor internal control systems and risk management processes.
  • Act as primary contact for data protection and regulatory authorities where required.
  • Purchasing and Supplier Management: Establish and manage purchasing processes and supplier strategies.
  • Lead selection, negotiation, and contracting of suppliers and service providers.
  • Ensure cost efficiency, quality, and reliability in procurement activities.
  • Implement structured tender processes and supplier performance management.
  • Human Resources Leadership: Lead full HR lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development.
  • Establish HR policies aligned with German labor law and company standards.
  • Promote a strong corporate culture and employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations and internal HR governance.
  • IT Governance and Infrastructure: Oversee IT operations, systems, and infrastructure in coordination with regional/global IT teams.
  • Ensure data security, cybersecurity standards, and system reliability.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives and system implementation.
  • Manage IT vendors and service providers.
  • Office Administration and Support Services: Manage office operations including reception, administration staff, and facility services.
  • Ensure efficient workplace management and employee support services.
  • Oversee procurement of office supplies and services.
  • Maintain a professional and effective working environment.
  • Operational Excellence and Governance: Drive continuous improvement of administrative processes and systems.
  • Develop scalable structures to support company growth.
  • Manage budgets for administrative functions and ensure cost efficiency.
  • Implement reporting structures and KPIs for all areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Law, HR, or a related field.

  • Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing, or multinational environments is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in building structures in new or fast-growing organizations is highly preferred.
  • Native or fluent German and fluent English required; additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent understanding of German regulatory environment (labor law, compliance, GDPR).
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
