About the Role

This field-based role requires candidates to live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. The position involves executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing sales performance and territory, building customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize sales performance while adhering to company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.
  • Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns effectively to gain calls to action and close sales.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, and market dynamics.
  • Share market intelligence with in-field teams, brand teams, and sales managers to optimize brand strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred and a high school diploma/GED required.
  • Proven track record of leadership success and solid presentation skills.
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools.
  • Possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach quickly.
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record of success in sales performance within respective therapeutic areas is preferred.
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing is preferred.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource is preferred.
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing is preferred (for all non-English speaking countries).
  • Must satisfy all applicable healthcare industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations.
  • Must be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain HCIR credentials, which may include background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination, and fingerprinting.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
  • Meet safe driving requirements.
