About the Role

A prospective intern will assist in the planning and implementation of the Office’s communications, advocacy, and outreach strategies to increase the understanding and awareness of UN Women by its stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the office’s communications work including social media outreach and website management
  • Assisting the JLO on public and private sector partnership building for mobilizing resources for UN Women by engaging in research, coordination, and producing background and partnership-related materials
  • Supporting the work of Unstereotype Alliance (UA) Japan National Chapter by raising awareness of UA’s initiatives through drafting visibility materials and preparing resources for UA meetings
  • Assisting in advocacy activities with a focus on Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), including planning WEPs workshops for private sector companies
  • Producing communications materials such as fliers, posters, videos, video interviews and presentations
  • Assisting in the coordination of advocacy activities for the JLO with private, public, and academic entities
  • Assisting with research and drafting speeches and presentations for the Director

Requirements

  • Ability to plan and organize events
  • Ability to translate between English and Japanese and vice versa
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Attention to detail, sound judgement and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure

About the Company

  • UN Women Japan Liaison Office (JLO) was established in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo in April 2015. The Office works on extending policy dialogue by holding lectures, public events, and building strategic partnerships.
