About the Role
BJAK is building a Neobank Superapp for Southeast Asia. As a Technical Product Manager, you will own a product vertical end-to-end, from strategy and roadmap through to the technical design and delivery of the systems behind it. This role involves managing products where real money moves, requiring strict attention to licensing, compliance, and third-party integrations. The company is AI-native, focusing on leveraging AI to genuinely improve outcomes while maintaining reliability, auditability, and trust.
Responsibilities
- Own a vertical end-to-end, including outcomes, metrics, and a prioritized backlog.
- Define acceptance criteria for development and testing.
- Shape technical design with engineering, focusing on system boundaries, money-movement correctness, third-party rail reliance, failure paths, security, latency, scalability, and recovery.
- Make and defend trade-offs across correctness, speed, cost, reliability, and user experience.
- Incorporate regulated constraints such as licensing scope, CDD/KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and data privacy as first-class product inputs.
- Apply AI strategically, defining its decision-making scope, human-in-the-loop requirements, evaluation methods, and handling of uncertainty.
- Ship features behind flags and go live as external partners and regulatory gates clear.
- Collaborate across Engineering, Design, Compliance, Operations, Treasury, and Finance/Reconciliation teams.
Requirements
- Significant experience owning a complex technical product end-to-end.
- Strong judgment and decisiveness under ambiguity.
- Ability to balance ambition with technical, regulatory, and operational realities.
- Capability to engage effectively with senior engineers.
- Solid system design understanding, including boundaries, datastores, queues/workflows, APIs, failure modes, and consistency under concurrency.
- Comfort reading, reviewing, and challenging design documents.
- Ability to sketch system architectures and sequences.
- Technical proficiency sufficient for engineers not to need to oversimplify.
- Experience in a regulated or high-consequence domain (e.g., payments, banking, remittance, insurance) or demonstrable ability to learn quickly.
- Understanding of the unique aspects of money movement, prioritizing correctness over convenience and managing irreversible states and external partners.
- Hands-on experience with LLM-based products.
- Ability to frame features as evaluable (offline, online, human feedback).
- Realistic understanding of AI limitations such as hallucination, drift, and data gaps.
- Understanding of when AI should not be in the loop.
- Strong English communication skills.
