About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Senior Structural Engineer to join our Buildings + Places Structures team in Sydney. In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of structural engineering projects across sectors including aviation, sport, culture and entertainment, education, healthcare, and transport infrastructure. Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable structural solutions, mentoring junior team members, and helping maintain AECOM’s reputation for technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the structural design and delivery of projects across a range of market sectors.
  • Prepare and review structural analysis, calculations, design reports, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC/BCA), and client requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams to develop practical, efficient, and sustainable design outcomes.
  • Manage project deliverables, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder relationships to support successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to a strong culture of learning and innovation.

Requirements

  • Ideally, 5+ years’ experience in structural engineering, with a strong focus on building structures.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering structural design projects within a consulting environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Australian Citizenship is highly preferred.
  • All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

Skills

  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software including SpaceGass, ETABS, RAPT, and Structural Toolkit.
  • Experience with SAP2000, RAM, IdeaStatiCa, and Grasshopper will be viewed favourably.
