About the Role

As a Senior Manager in our Tax Credits and Incentives Advisory (TCIA) Practice, you will provide tax equity investment consulting services, drawing on accounting and taxation experience. You will lead a team of experienced professionals in the credits and incentives space, with a focus on Inflation Reduction Act Energy Credits. This role is key to building Cherry Bekaert’s renewable energy practice by understanding and advising on various clean energy tax credits, transferability rules, and direct pay regimes.

Responsibilities

Provide tax equity investment consulting services.
Lead a team of professionals with experience in credits and incentives.
Understand and advise on Inflation Reduction Act Energy Credits.
Build Cherry Bekaert’s renewable energy practice.
Understand the post-OB3 credit regime including ITCs, Production Tax Credits, Clean Hydrogen, Clean Fuel, Advanced Manufacturing, Nuclear, and Carbon Sequestration.
Advise on Transferability rules (Section 6418) and prior credit transferability transactions.
Advise on the Direct Pay regime (Section 6417).
Assist with eligible basis substantiation.
Provide cost segregation support.
Advise on credit adders and enhancers including prevailing wage & apprenticeship, domestic content, and Energy Community qualification.
Advise on Foreign Entity of Concern rules.
Assess credit recapture risk.
Provide general understanding of tax equity transaction mechanics.
Assist in building market presence through webinars and published articles.
Work closely with core tax partners to proactively bring credit transfer opportunities.
Proactively work with outside brokers and firms offering available tax credits on the transferability market.

Requirements

7+ years' experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
Knowledge of HLBV Accounting Concepts.
Certified or in the process of obtaining a CPA, enrolled agent, or other appropriate certification.
Financial modeling expertise.
Travel up to 10%.
Demonstrated basic understanding of Subchapter K and investment partnership taxation.
Demonstrated knowledge of tax equity investment structures.
Candidates must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.
