About the Role

Join ASX, a leading global securities exchange and trusted market operator, as a key member of the test team. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the quality and reliability of critical market infrastructure and data services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based automated test frameworks and reusable automation components.
  • Improve and modernize existing automation frameworks, execution processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build and maintain automated testing pipelines using Git, GitLab CI/CD, or equivalent tooling.
  • Promote shift-left testing by reviewing requirements for clarity, testability, and automation readiness.
  • Plan, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases for ASX Trade and related market platform changes.
  • Validate market data, order flow, and interface behavior across trading protocols like FIX, ITCH, and OUCH.
  • Support system, system integration, regression, end-to-end, parallel, operational readiness, and production verification testing.
  • Prepare test data, manage test environment dependencies, and troubleshoot execution issues across Linux/Unix and integrated environments.
  • Document test results, produce release evidence, and support sign-off for safe production releases.
  • Log, investigate, and report defects with clear evidence, impact, severity, and reproducibility details.
  • Communicate test status, risks, and issues with BAs, Developers, Support Analysts, Infrastructure teams, and Business Stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the QE&T Community of Practice, including automation standards, engineering practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, managing competing priorities while maintaining a focus on quality, delivery, and business outcomes.

Requirements

  • 7-9 years of automation testing experience, including API and integration testing across different protocols.
  • Strong Java automation experience, with the ability to build reusable libraries, utilities, and maintainable frameworks.
  • Good working knowledge of Python and the ability to extend or support Python-based frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, clean coding practices, and framework design patterns.
  • Experience with Cucumber, Gherkin, and behavior-driven test automation approaches.
  • Experience across system, system integration, regression, end-to-end, parallel, and release verification testing.
  • Hands-on experience with CI tools and CI/CD pipelines, including setup, maintenance, and execution monitoring.
  • Experience using Git, GitLab, or equivalent source control and branching strategies.
  • Strong Linux/Unix command-line capability and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with test environment coordination, test data setup, and execution dependency management.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence for test management, defect management, and project documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in medium to large project teams.
  • Experience in financial markets, exchanges, electronic trading, or market infrastructure (nice to have).
  • Experience with FIX Protocol and market data/order entry protocols such as ITCH and OUCH (nice to have).
  • Exposure to trading platforms, broker trading, or similar financial market automation tools (nice to have).
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers, or cloud-native test execution environments (nice to have).
  • Experience with performance, resilience, failover, or operational readiness testing (nice to have).
  • Use of Performance tools such as JMeter and Gatling (nice to have).
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, or log-analysis tools used for test investigation (nice to have).
  • Exposure to service virtualization, API mocking, or test data automation (nice to have).
  • Agile delivery experience and experience working in CI/CD delivery teams (nice to have).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Australia on a permanent basis without restrictions.
