About the Role
We are seeking a pragmatic and experienced Engineering Tech Lead to provide technical oversight for our Discovery team. This role focuses on building resilient, secure, and cost-efficient cloud systems for next-generation Conversational Search and Content Intelligence products, with a focus on generative AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Take complete technical ownership of the Discovery team's services, ensuring scalability, high availability, and structural soundness of conversational search and content intelligence pipelines.
- Design resilient, decoupled distributed systems using event-driven architectures with clean API boundaries and robust fault tolerance.
- Champion DevSecOps practices, embedding automated security scanning, vulnerability management, and strict IAM principles.
- Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines, driving automated testing, seamless deployment strategies, and infrastructure reproducibility.
- Act as the financial guardian (FinOps) of the domain, monitoring and optimizing AWS infrastructure spend.
- Provide technical steering for Generative AI and RAG architectures, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and pragmatic integration of tools like AWS Bedrock.
- Partner with the Engineering Manager to balance new product delivery with architectural health and technical debt reduction.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and Designers to deconstruct technical concepts, define system boundaries, write user stories, and provide estimates.
- Write clean, resilient backend services using Node.js and TypeScript on AWS.
- Provide technical mentorship, lead architectural workshops, and conduct code reviews.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience building, scaling, and maintaining complex distributed systems in production.
- Deep production experience with cloud-native AWS environments, including serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB), containerized workloads (ECS/Fargate), and Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK or Terraform).
- Proven capability in modern DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD automation and implementing the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Strong track record of rigorous system design, with a deep understanding of caching strategies, database optimization, web performance tuning, and distributed debugging.
- Technical maturity to evaluate, architect, and safely implement Generative AI workflows (RAG, AWS Bedrock) with a focus on cost control and data security.
- Advanced programming skills in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Comfort working in iterative, agile engineering environments using Scrum or Kanban.
