About the Role
WCMHS is seeking a Residential Support Specialist to provide direct support and skill coaching to individuals receiving residential mental health services, helping them build stability, independence, and confidence. This role involves creating a safe, structured environment, supporting clients through crisis, reinforcing coping strategies, and encouraging community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:4 supervision and support to individuals in a Washington County Mental Health residence.
- Participate in agency training to understand clinical principles, skills, assumptions, and strategies within one year.
- Perform crisis intervention as needed.
- Conduct environmental sweeps of the clients’ residence to ensure safety.
- Model, coach, and reinforce skills for boundary setting, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Coach engagement in prosocial activities and community participation.
- Model and coach living skills including cooking, housekeeping, laundry, budgeting, shopping, and personal hygiene.
- Transport clients for appointments and employment.
Requirements
- B.A. in psychology or related field is preferred.
- Previous work with MH and/or SUD population is desirable.
- Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and safe, insured vehicle required.
- Ability to deliver services and complete treatment notes in English.
- Ability to apply restraints to clients within agency training and guidance.
