About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees in production and/or operation functions such as assembly, inspection, test, and final test related to manufacturing capital equipment and systems.
  • Sets daily team priorities, develops work schedules, and assigns tasks.
  • Develops and executes action plans using Shift Handoffs and designated operations reviews.
  • Organizes and facilitates work team meetings, including pre-shift and safety meetings.
  • Participates in the development and tracking of organization performance metrics.
  • Meets or improves cycle time performance and other metrics.
  • Coordinates efforts with service and/or customer groups to secure resources for production schedules.
  • Eliminates safety incidents, improves equipment efficiency, and develops leadership capability and morale on a production line.
  • Assists in training and career development, and manages the performance management process.
  • Manages employee selection, hiring, reward, and discipline processes.
  • May participate in budget development, including forecasting manpower requirements and overhead expenditures.
  • Identifies process and quality changes to improve manufacturing or department capabilities.
  • Drives Lean, Safety, and Quality initiatives and takes corrective action.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates understanding and application of guidelines, procedures, and processes in own job family.
  • Applies understanding of how own team is impacted by upstream work of other teams.
  • Supervises day-to-day work and participates in coaching and development of employees.
  • Uses judgment based on practice and precedent to resolve issues related to production schedules and daily priorities.
  • Impacts the quality and timeliness of team’s results and its contribution to team or department goals.
  • Uses tact and diplomacy to exchange information and handle sensitive issues.
  • Requires understanding of Applied Materials global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with these standards at all times.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
  • Requires the ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Requires the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise.
  • Requires the use of hand and power tools.
  • May require working in a clean room and using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.
