About the Role

As Project Manager, you will be the principal company representative at the project site, overseeing the entirety of a project. You will create a project plan, guide communication among stakeholders, manage risk, and monitor progress against schedule and budget. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for getting the job done and working collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and influence Atkinson's Safety Culture
  • Ensure the team understands and delivers to safety culture accountabilities and responsibilities
  • Ensure pre-planning to address risks
  • Walk the project with foremen and crew members to ensure accountability
  • Make on-the-spot adjustments/corrections
  • Tackle significant safety culture issues without delay and follow up on agreed-upon action
  • Take responsibility for client relations and focus on client needs
  • Revenue tracking and reporting
  • Ensure accurate estimated costs to complete and future forecasting
  • Plan early to avoid unnecessary safety risks, address production and quality concerns, and allow time for input and buy-in from stakeholders
  • Make thoughtful, timely decisions to keep the project moving forward
  • Have a strategic vs. tactical approach to problem solving
  • Contribute to winning new work including participating in the estimating, proposal, and presentation efforts
  • Ensure familiarity with state and local compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate clearly, follow up, provide support, and hold team accountable for deadlines
  • Practice "win-win" negotiation
  • Know insurance products and coverages for Atkinson, subcontractors, and vendors as well as the status of subcontractors' and vendors' insurance
  • Keep stakeholders informed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering and general contracting experience on $30M to $250M+ complex, self-perform, heavy-civil construction projects
  • High degree of initiative, independence, personal responsibility, and integrity
  • Willingness to speak up, listen up, ask open-ended questions, and learn from others
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

  • Ability to navigate active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists
  • Comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work
  • Adaptability to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels
  • Comfort in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines
  • Ability to monitor and respond to communications (phone calls, emails, text messages) as required
  • Pass a pre-employment drug "fitness for duty" screening
  • Willingness to undergo random quarterly drug "fitness for duty" tests
