About the Role

The Adults & Public Health Directorate is seeking a Team Leader to develop a high-quality care unit responsive to service user needs. This role involves management support for care staff and the day-to-day running of residential services, fostering user development and community integration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management support to residential support workers, care assistants, domestics, and cooks.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and supervision of residential, respite, or supported living schemes.
  • Create an environment that encourages service users to develop skills and reach their full potential.
  • Ensure individuals are integrated into the community.
  • Provide direct care to service users.
  • Offer leadership on shift for staff.
  • Assist the Registered Manager in performance management.
  • Plan, monitor, and supervise care staff.
  • Support care staff in formulating care plans and risk assessments.
  • Assist with the management and implementation of staff rotas.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and its application.
  • Understanding of Community Care Legislation and its implications.
  • Ability to effectively utilize all resources, including staff and budgets.
  • Capacity to plan, organize, and monitor the work of a diverse staff team.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments for the service, staff, and service users.
  • Understanding of the developmental needs of adults with severe learning disabilities.
  • Ability to chair and minute meetings.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with adults with disabilities.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working at RSW level or a similar position.
  • 2 years of experience providing services to individuals with severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, or challenging needs.
