About the Role

The Route Planning team is responsible for determining JetBlue’s growth strategy and maximizing the profitability of JetBlue’s route network. Responsibilities include determining new routes, optimizing existing routes, and performing network and competitive analyses. Longer term responsibilities involve advising on major fleet and strategic growth decisions. The ideal candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of airline route networks and strategy, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of JetBlue’s short and long term route network strategy
  • Analyze JetBlue Airways network performance and identify areas of opportunity; monitor industry capacity changes
  • Collaborate closely with Schedule Planning to transition route concepts from initial business case through to successful execution, ensuring alignment with fleet constraints and commercial targets.
  • Responsible for 1-2 Route Planning budgetary processes including but not limited to: 5 year plans, profit and loss (P&L) documentation, and internal dashboards
  • Prepare materials for quarterly earnings call in support of executive leadership
  • Serve as a primary point of contact in Route Planning for internal and external partners
  • Perform ad hoc fleet- and network-related projects in support of senior leadership
  • Participate in mentoring and training new crewmembers
  • Support other teams including the Airline Planning, Commercial, Finance, Government Affairs, Government Affairs, Commercial, Finance, Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Investor Relations divisions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Public Policy or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Three (3) years of work experience in commercial aviation, finance, management consulting, or a related field
  • Candidates must demonstrate Excel skills in a work sample assessment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Salary/Compensations

  • $88,000.00 - $132,000.00 per year
