About the Role
Behavior Intervention Specialist to work with individuals, family members, family support staff, and a clinical supervisor on a Per Diem basis to assess, and to develop behavior support plans for addressing behaviors that interfere with an individual’s daily functioning in the home and community.
Responsibilities
- Conducts behavioral assessments and writes functional behavior assessment and behavior support plans in collaboration with families.
- Provides family members with relevant training individually or in groups.
- Reviews behavior support plans and relevant data regularly and makes changes as needed.
- Acts as a primary resource to families in understanding disabilities and positive behavioral support.
- Models positive behavioral support in the home.
- Performs direct observation of individuals as part of the process of behavioral assessment and behavior support plan development.
- Maintains ongoing communications with families, service providers, treatment providers and team members to coordinate behavioral services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a clinical and/or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or related human services field
- Specialized training or experience in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- 3 plus years of related experience required.
- A Master’s Degree in a clinical and/or treatment field can replace years of experience requirements
- A valid NYS driver's license and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage.
- Daily access to an automobile and a willingness to transport program participants.
Skills
- Word processing, E-mail and database software, apple and Google suite programs
- Comfortable going to an individual's home and working with them and their family to develop plans to help the individual overcome behaviors that interfere with their daily functioning.
- Enjoy providing educational workshops for families and community members on behavior related topics.
