About the Role

The Patient Placement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all hospital admission and accommodation activities, administering policies for safe patient admissions, and providing clinical expertise to staff regarding eligibility and bed availability. This role also assumes technical responsibility for hospital transfers and serves as a liaison between various hospital departments and transferring facilities to ensure proper patient placement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all hospital admission and accommodation activities.
  • Administer policies and operational procedures for expeditious and safe patient admissions.
  • Provide clinical expertise and technical assistance to professional and clerical staff regarding eligibility requirements and bed availability.
  • Assume technical responsibility for hospital transfers, admissions, and accommodations.
  • Serve as a liaison between admitting, nursing staff, physicians, and transferring hospitals to ensure proper placement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing with current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama.
  • At least five (5) years of clinical and/or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to individuals of various cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, and educational levels.
  • Successful course completion in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Annual completion of competency requirements.
  • Must be able to work with other health care disciplines/departments effectively.
  • Must be able to assess and prioritize needs of patients based on available resources.
  • Experience in operating computers.
