About the Role

This study seeks to understand the dynamic complexity underlying acculturative stress and mental well-being among Ghanaian immigrants living in New York City. For this project, we are seeking part-time telephone interviewers to conduct qualitative interviews and support project activities, such as outreach and recruitment, between June and December 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit/follow up with project participants in person, via phone calls, email, or social media to schedule interviews.
  • Conduct 1-hour-long quantitative surveys over the phone, WhatsApp, Teams, or Zoom.
  • Distribute program materials and participant gift cards or other incentives.
  • Perform data entry associated with interviews.
  • Complete detailed field notes.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Maintain research equipment.
  • Complete mandatory trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Background in public health, community health, psychology, nursing, social work, or related fields.
  • Articulate and tactful communication skills; readiness to work directly with community members and research participants.
  • Outstanding data collection and record-keeping.
  • Must be tech-savvy and able to troubleshoot for research participants and self (Wi-Fi connection, Zoom meetings, etc.).
  • Experience working in immigrant communities is essential.
  • Ability to follow research protocol and handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity.
  • Must be able to work at least 10 hours per week, days, nights, and/or weekends.

Experience Level

  • Experience working with African immigrants is desirable.
  • Experience with telemarketing, polling, or other phone-based data collection.
  • Experience using REDCap, Qualtrics, or other survey tools.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience collaborating with African immigrant communities.

Education Level

  • Completion of CITI training courses in social and behavioral research with human subjects is required.

Salary/Compensations

  • $25.00 - $30.00/hour
