About the Role

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Product Manager to translate business needs into product requirements and drive execution within a cross-functional pod, focusing on AI and automation tools for Scripps Sports. This role acts as a liaison between business stakeholders, team partners, data, and software engineering, requiring an analytical mindset for data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable product requirements.
  • Manage the product backlog in Atlassian (Jira), including writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritization.
  • Partner with engineering to plan sprints, track delivery progress, and resolve issues.
  • Support tracking of milestones and impact, proactively escalating risks.
  • Gather requirements, validate assumptions, and ensure built solutions address intended problems.
  • Identify and flag interdependencies and conflicts with other pods' work.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and prioritization using data and user insights.
  • Communicate progress and blockers clearly to the Product Lead and stakeholders.
  • Build low-fidelity prototypes and mockups (e.g., Figma, wireframes) to validate concepts.
  • Use prototypes to pressure-test assumptions and surface edge cases.
  • Identify opportunities for AI or automation to improve speed, quality, or cost within initiatives.
  • Partner with the AI/architecture team to understand platform capabilities and translate them into product use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Generally, 3+ years of digital and product management experience or related field.
