About the Role
A Shift Supervisor is a key leadership role focused on delivering exceptional hospitality and elevating the coffee experience while maintaining cafe standards and achieving business objectives. This role fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the cafe team.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to sales growth initiatives and manage cafe expenditures.
- Support ongoing cafe operations and continuous improvement.
- Oversee service flow to ensure safety, cleanliness, quality, and efficiency.
- Execute operational duties including ordering, receiving, and inventory management.
- Follow Leader on Duty processes, including staff deployment and break management.
- Facilitate onboarding and training for new team members.
- Handle cash handling and daily deposits.
- Address guest concerns promptly.
- Report incidents of illness and injury.
- Provide guidance on new menu offerings and operational procedures.
- Lead efforts to achieve company-wide sustainability objectives.
- Prepare and serve beverages and food items to high-quality standards.
- Supervise high-performing team members.
- Act as a role model for team members, setting high standards and leading with Omotenashi.
- Foster a culture of curiosity and ongoing learning through tastings, cuppings, and training.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and safety protocols, providing constructive feedback.

Experience Level

Education Level
- Existing Food Safety Certification required for the state you will be working in and for your specific role, or will obtain it within 30 days post-hire
- Completed Blue Bottle Academy’s Barista training and validation program or will complete it within 90 days post-hire
Salary/Compensations
- $19.50 per hour + tips averaging approximately $6-$9 dollars per shift hour
