About the Role

Group Leaders are dynamic youth workers committed to delivering high quality, academically aligned arts, performance arts, sports, and/or STEM instruction to elementary, middle, or high school youth from the framework of positive youth development and social emotional literacy. This role involves assisting Activity Specialists and/or Teaching Artists in program delivery, maintaining safety, facilitating groups, and adhering to administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage program participants with the goal of fostering positive youth development
  • Prepare materials and space for various age-appropriate activities
  • Assist with planning, development, and implementation of various activities & events
  • Support effective classroom management and contribute to a positive environment by being adaptable, modeling positive behavior, promoting teamwork, & fostering a welcoming & inclusive environment
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, training sessions, & special events to enhance knowledge & skills, as required, inclusive of those outside program hours

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and/or youth in a professional setting
  • Strong ability to form and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, youth, families, and other stakeholders
  • Responsible; organized & demonstrate positive communication skills
  • Able to set an example in all areas, including timeliness, attendance, and professionalism
  • Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner
  • Pre-employment screening is required, including criminal history checks
