About the Role

Group Leaders are dynamic youth workers committed to delivering high quality, academically aligned arts, performance arts, sports, and/or STEM instruction to elementary, middle, or high school youth. This role involves working within the framework of positive youth development and social emotional literacy, assisting Activity Specialists and/or Teaching Artists in program delivery, maintaining safety, facilitating groups, and adhering to administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage program participants with the goal of fostering positive youth development
Prepare materials and space for various age-appropriate activities
Assist with planning, development, and implementation of various activities & events
Support effective classroom management and contribute to a positive environment by being adaptable, modeling positive behavior, promoting teamwork, & fostering a welcoming & inclusive environment
Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, training sessions, & special events to enhance knowledge & skills, as required, inclusive of those outside program hours

Requirements

Reliable and energetic individual who can build strong relationships with students
Ability to manage a group effectively
Ability to support daily program operations with consistency and care
High School Diploma or its equivalent
Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and/or youth in a professional setting
Strong ability to form and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, youth, families, and other stakeholders
Responsible, organized, and demonstrate positive communication skills
Able to set an example in all areas, including timeliness, attendance, and professionalism
Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner
Pre-employment screening is required, including criminal history checks
