Responsibilities
- Teach academic subjects that prepare students to earn their GED or High School Diploma
- Create individualized academic achievement plans and monitor student progress
- Strengthen students' literacy, numeracy, and workplace readiness skills
- Collaborate with Career Technical Training instructors to integrate academics into hands-on career training
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and individualized support to help students succeed
- Maintain an organized, engaging, and positive classroom environment
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records
- Work closely with counselors, instructors, and support staff to promote student achievement and retention
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Valid New York State teaching certificate (or approved waiver) required
- Previous teaching or Job Corps experience preferred
- Passion for helping young adults reach their educational and career goals
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
