About the Role
Rocking Horse Community Health Center (RHCHC) is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for their Family Practice area at the Madison location. This role is crucial in assisting medical and nursing staff with patient examinations and treatments, contributing to the care of vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
- Assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients
- Take patient vitals
- Perform blood draws
- Administer immunizations and medications, including injections
- Complete medication refills
- Complete tasks as required
- Provide patient education assistance as required
Requirements
- Previous experience with clinical procedures is a must
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Certification of satisfactory completion of a Medical Assisting program required
- A current driver's license and an acceptable driving record required
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively communicate information one-on-one and in small group situations to patients, clients and other employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute ratios and percentages to draw and interpret bar graphs
- General computing knowledge required
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Health Record program
- Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting
- Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff
- Required to understand and adhere to privacy policies and procedures regarding Patient Health Information (PHI)
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk and hear
- Frequently required to use hands to reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to sit
- Must frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
