About the Role
The Design Supervisor is responsible for training and developing the design team, driving sales, and ensuring customers have a positive sales experience through exceptional customer service and design services.
Responsibilities
- Hire and develop a dynamic and motivated design team, including performance evaluations.
- Greet store customers in a helpful manner and support store design walk-in needs.
- Maintain master store design appointment calendar and schedule design appointments.
- Develop clientele through networking, referrals, and store-generated leads.
- Provide advice on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects.
- Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
- Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with accuracy, timeliness, and follow-up.
- Communicate consistently and concisely with customers and colleagues.
- Collaborate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation.
- Achieve sales and other company goals.
- Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices.
- Maintain Design Center and company visual standards.
- Engage in current and emerging design trends.
- Utilize design applications such as Salesforce, Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject, James Martin, and HousPro.
- Participate in local professional affiliations like ASID and NKBA.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Design education (BA or AA in Interior Design) or 6 years of interior design experience in lieu of education.
- Combination of education and experience equal to 6 years.
- 3-5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Knowledge of hard surface flooring preferred.
- Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a Sr. designer position, ADM role, or higher.
