About the Role
Launch High School is seeking an Outreach and Community Engagement Manager to deepen and scale local relationships and grassroots partnerships in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. This role is crucial for building relationships with local institutions, representing Launch at community events, and developing culturally responsive outreach materials. The manager will also lead the end-to-end execution of the high school enrollment funnel, drive recruitment volume, and manage outreach efforts. Additionally, the role involves identifying and building strategic partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and elected officials to support Launch's competency-based model. The ideal candidate will have strong connections in Sunset Park, Spanish fluency, and a passion for equity-driven education.
Responsibilities
- Deepen and scale local relationships and grassroots partnerships.
- Build relationships with local elementary and middle schools, faith institutions, immigrant and social service organizations, tenant and civic associations, and community leaders.
- Represent Launch at community board meetings, neighborhood events, local markets, and other public forums.
- Develop culturally and linguistically responsive outreach materials and messaging.
- Create accessible channels for community members and prospective families to ask questions, raise concerns, and give input.
- Lead end-to-end execution of high school enrollment funnel — awareness, information sessions, applications, and yield.
- Drive recruitment volume and sophistication for a larger campus.
- Build and manage a summer outreach effort and a year-round recruitment calendar.
- Collect, track, and analyze outreach and enrollment data to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Enrollment team on systems, timelines, and network-wide strategy.
- Partner with the Communications team on materials and messaging.
- Support family retention and re-enrollment alongside new recruitment.
- Build a feeder pipeline of relationships with Sunset Park–area elementary and middle schools.
- Cultivate relationships with local elected officials and Community Board 7.
- Serve as Launch's day-to-day connective tissue in Sunset Park.
- Identify potential partnerships with social service and wraparound-support organizations.
- Identify local business, civic, and philanthropic partners.
- Meet regularly with the Enrollment and Communications teams to align local activity with network-wide strategy.
- Coordinate with the Launch High School's leadership team on partnerships.
- Bring a community and family voice into conversations about the transition to Launch's new permanent high school home.
- Support the work of others on the team and take on new projects as needed.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in community outreach, enrollment/admissions, partnerships, or organizing.
- School-based / CBO experience strongly preferred.
- Experience building an outreach, enrollment, or partnerships effort from the ground up.
- Ability to treat all members of the community with respect and build trust quickly.
- Comfortable with a flexible, community-facing schedule, including evenings and weekends.
