About the Role
You will be joining the RAIN RFID Reader Platform team where you will get to work on Firmware for ARM 64/32 bit Processors that will be used in our future RFID Reader models. The RFID Reader Platform team works closely with cross-functional teams, including Hardware, RF Modem, Cloud, and QA, to ensure seamless end-to-end enterprise solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software on ARM 64/32 bit processors and microcontrollers – from early bootloaders to modern C/C++ Linux applications.
- Own key aspects of new hardware platform bring-up, including driver development, peripheral integration, and board-level diagnostics.
- Contribute to architecture and design reviews, ensuring code quality and software scalability.
- Optimize code for performance, memory usage, and power consumption in resource-constrained environments.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues across embedded systems.
- Write and maintain clear, detailed documentation for software architecture, design, and code.
- Conduct unit testing and ensure embedded systems meet functional and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with embedded, QA, Factory Test, and Hardware teams to improve overall organizational success.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional growth of the embedded software team.
- Continuously learn and grow with a small but highly effective team committed to improving processes and solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive software development experience with a proven track record of delivering high-quality embedded solutions
- Expertise in C and modern C++ programming for embedded systems
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with Embedded Linux and microcontrollers – including bootstrapping SoCs, device trees, device drivers, and firmware image build systems (e.g. Yocto, Buildroot, or similar).
- Experience debugging with tools such as logic analyzers and GDB.
- Strong experience with Embedded Linux and microcontrollers
- In-depth knowledge of hardware interfaces such as SPI, UART, I2C, GPIO
- Solid understanding of hardware/software interaction and low-level programming
- Experience developing on Linux Workstation
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
