About the Role
Help coordinate the flow of patients through the front office in a manner that reflects superior customer service and ensures timely patient care.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients promptly upon arrival, utilizing excellent customer service.
- Complete the entire check-in process in a timely, efficient manner, and monitor daily appointment schedules.
- Thoroughly review and update patient demographics, consents, insurance, and income.
- Ensure the patient is screened by financial counselors if applicable.
- Anticipate needs associated with all same-day visits, including registration and insurance verification.
- Maintain a well-organized work area.
- Complete the entire checkout process.
- Communicate effectively with back-office support staff and other departments.
- Function well as a team with the flexibility to adapt to daily changes in routine or assignments.
- Monitor wait times in the waiting area and communicate delays to patients and clinical staff.
- Manage late arriving patients per policy and no-show appointments as appropriate.
- Collect co-pay and accurately reconcile daily cash.
- Comply with all front office policies and procedures.
- Process medical records release requests.
- Comply with attendance and punctuality requirements.
- Ensure equipment is turned on and prepared for the workday at the start of the shift.
- Occasional overtime and/or weekend hours may be required.
Requirements
- Minimum two years' experience working in a physician’s office or healthcare facility.
- Experience with medical billing preferred.
Skills
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to interact successfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and abilities
- Basic computer literacy, including working with databases
- Working knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems
- Ability to multi-task in a high change environment
