About the Role

Help coordinate the flow of patients through the front office in a manner that reflects superior customer service and ensures timely patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients promptly upon arrival, utilizing excellent customer service.
  • Complete the entire check-in process in a timely, efficient manner, and monitor daily appointment schedules.
  • Thoroughly review and update patient demographics, consents, insurance, and income.
  • Ensure the patient is screened by financial counselors if applicable.
  • Anticipate needs associated with all same-day visits, including registration and insurance verification.
  • Maintain a well-organized work area.
  • Complete the entire checkout process.
  • Communicate effectively with back-office support staff and other departments.
  • Function well as a team with the flexibility to adapt to daily changes in routine or assignments.
  • Monitor wait times in the waiting area and communicate delays to patients and clinical staff.
  • Manage late arriving patients per policy and no-show appointments as appropriate.
  • Collect co-pay and accurately reconcile daily cash.
  • Comply with all front office policies and procedures.
  • Process medical records release requests.
  • Comply with attendance and punctuality requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is turned on and prepared for the workday at the start of the shift.
  • Occasional overtime and/or weekend hours may be required.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years' experience working in a physician’s office or healthcare facility.
  • Experience with medical billing preferred.

Skills

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and abilities
  • Basic computer literacy, including working with databases
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems
  • Ability to multi-task in a high change environment
