About the Role
NIC Components is seeking a Product Engineer to be a key technical resource for their passive electronic components portfolio. This role supports internal teams and customers with component selection, cross-referencing, and data validation, requiring a strong understanding of passive components and the ability to optimize solutions based on application requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop a strong working knowledge of NIC’s passive component portfolio to support technical and product-related inquiries.
- Utilize internal databases and parametric tools to recommend component selections based on application requirements, functional descriptions, and competitor part numbers.
- Offer component selection or generate cross-reference options, including identifying pin-for-pin and functionally equivalent replacements.
- Validate and improve the accuracy of existing parametric and product data.
- Contribute to NIC's technical marketing catalog, including white papers, test reports, and marketing materials.
- Resolve customer issues related to component selection.
- Query datasets and generate reports to support advanced applications, customers, and internal decision-making.
- Participate in customer discussions as the technical voice for parametric and product data.
- Assist in developing and enhancing internal tools that leverage component parametric attributes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and sales teams to ensure technical alignment and responsiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in component engineering, product engineering, or a related technical role.
- Strong understanding of passive electronic components and circuit-level design considerations.
- Experience working with parametric data, technical databases, or component selection tools.
- Ability to interpret datasheets and translate technical specifications into practical recommendations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Experience with component cross-referencing and competitive analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or other data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with database querying or data management systems.
- Exposure to customer-facing technical support or field application engineering.
