About the Role

The Metropolitan Museum of Art seeks an expert in the day-to-day operations of the development team, responsible for raising funds through grants for all seventeen curatorial departments, conservation, and Audience Engagement. This role involves dynamic storytelling through writing and editing correspondence and communications, managing a deadline-driven calendar and databases, and serving as a central point for a high-volume, collaborative team within Institutional Advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit gift acknowledgements and correspondence for the development team, senior staff, and Museum leadership.
  • Assemble and expedite grant proposals, reports, budgets, and related communications with attention to detail, collaborating with colleagues across the Museum.
  • Manage team’s data needs and systems, including tracking all gifts, donor and prospect data, and other information utilizing The Met’s databases.
  • Review, edit, and facilitate donor credit lines across multiple programmatic areas in coordination with staff throughout the Museum.
  • Conduct research and prepare research material and giving histories for donor meetings.
  • Coordinate and organize private VIP tours and small events.
  • Facilitate donor stewardship, including managing membership renewals, event participation, meeting scheduling, and follow-up.
  • Guide and train interns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.A. or equivalent experience, with evidence of interest in arts, culture, and editorial work.
  • Writing and editing skills.
  • Computer skills and experience with MS Office.
  • Interest in the arts and a commitment to the Museum's mission.
  • Must be located within commuting distance of the Museum (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania).
