About the Role
Emergency Department Technicians (Patient Care Techs) provide compassionate basic patient care and assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. They collect data, communicate observations, and maintain a safe environment. This role is crucial in a designated 911 receiving hospital with a Level I Trauma Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate basic patient care
- Assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse
- Collect data elements
- Communicate observations and information to the Registered Nurse
- Monitor vital signs
- Perform surveillance of telemetry
- Perform EKGs
- Perform glucose by finger stick
- Improve the patient experience
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment
- Demonstrate teamwork
- Raise the bar for patient care
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required PRIOR to start date
- At least one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant or equivalent
- Must achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy,) within probationary period
- All roles require on-site presence
- Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP
- NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses
