About the Role

Emergency Department Technicians (Patient Care Techs) provide compassionate basic patient care and assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. They collect data, communicate observations, and maintain a safe environment. This role is crucial in a designated 911 receiving hospital with a Level I Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate basic patient care
  • Assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Collect data elements
  • Communicate observations and information to the Registered Nurse
  • Monitor vital signs
  • Perform surveillance of telemetry
  • Perform EKGs
  • Perform glucose by finger stick
  • Improve the patient experience
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment
  • Demonstrate teamwork
  • Raise the bar for patient care

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required PRIOR to start date
  • At least one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant or equivalent
  • Must achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy,) within probationary period
  • All roles require on-site presence
  • Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP
  • NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses
