About the Role
Emergency Department Technicians (Patient Care Techs) – Full Time Night Flex at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, a designated 911 receiving hospital and Level I Trauma Center. You will provide basic patient care, collect data, and assist Registered Nurses to improve patient experience and maintain a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate basic patient care.
- Assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Collect data elements and communicate observations to the Registered Nurse.
- Perform vital signs, surveillance of telemetry, perform EKGs, and glucose by finger stick.
- Improve the patient experience.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
- Demonstrate teamwork and raise the bar for patient care.
- Achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy) within the probationary period.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required PRIOR to start date.
- At least one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant or equivalent.
- Certification in one of the following required: EKG/Arrhythmia certificate, Medical technician certificate, EMT/ Paramedic certificate.
- Must achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy,) within probationary period.
