About the Role

Emergency Department Technicians (Patient Care Techs) – Full Time Night Flex at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, a designated 911 receiving hospital and Level I Trauma Center. You will provide basic patient care, collect data, and assist Registered Nurses to improve patient experience and maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate basic patient care.
  • Assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Collect data elements and communicate observations to the Registered Nurse.
  • Perform vital signs, surveillance of telemetry, perform EKGs, and glucose by finger stick.
  • Improve the patient experience.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and raise the bar for patient care.
  • Achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy) within the probationary period.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required PRIOR to start date.
  • At least one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant or equivalent.
  • Certification in one of the following required: EKG/Arrhythmia certificate, Medical technician certificate, EMT/ Paramedic certificate.
  • Must achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy,) within probationary period.
