About the Role

The Housekeeping Manager supervises housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure product quality standards are met and optimum service is provided to hotel guests according to business objectives. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean hotel, organized housekeeping and laundry areas, and the security of linen and supplies inventory. The focus on guest and associate satisfaction, expense control, and product quality contributes to the overall goals of the hotel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service.
  • Create processes and procedures to ensure the hotel is properly supplied, meeting guest expectations, and is properly maintained and clean.
  • Ensure all staff are properly trained and have the necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Lead the delivery of clean rooms for occupancy that meet brand standards.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to monitor performance and make recommendations for HR actions.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to recruit, develop, and manage the Housekeeping staff.
  • Inspect assigned suites and public areas for cleanliness and repair, advising employees of deficiencies and instructing on corrective action.
  • Routinely perform housekeeping duties to ensure guest satisfaction and owner expectations.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager to manage the laundry operation and proper use of equipment.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to inventory and maintain par levels for linen and supplies.
  • Maintain procedures for security of lost and found items.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination.
  • Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures within the housekeeping department.
  • Act as 'Manager on duty' as required.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding health and safety services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of housekeeping experience.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory training/experience.
  • Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
  • Reading and writing abilities required for effective communication, task completion, supply ordering, instruction comprehension, and equipment manual/safety information reading.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
  • Will be required to regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals.
  • Carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently standing up and moving about the facility.
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility.
  • Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and crawling.
  • Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
