About the Role
The Community Habilitation Program Supervisor at The Arc Ontario oversees daily operations by supervising DSPs, coordinating schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting habilitation services that promote independence, community participation, and personal growth. This role provides training and coaching to staff, manages staffing patterns, assists with hiring, monitors documentation and billing, and ensures service plans are implemented effectively. The supervisor also supports individuals through skill development, community outings, health and medication protocols, behavior plans, and daily routines while maintaining safe environments and positive relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provides training to newly hired DSPs and implements coaching plans.
- Ensures staff are registered for and informed about agency-mandated training.
- Corrects and coaches staff as needed for smooth site operations.
- Completes core competency based performance appraisals with managerial assistance.
- Ensures site schedules meet individual needs, including programming, appointments, and outings, while minimizing overtime.
- Ensures schedules meet safeguard staffing minimums and include appropriately certified staff.
- Fills open shifts according to agency policy, using trained and appropriate staff.
- Accompanies individuals to off-site activities for supervision, skills training, or assistance.
- Assists in planning group leisure activities, recreational events, and outings.
- May conduct site meetings, maintain minutes, and provide feedback on participant requests.
- Completes and distributes recreation calendars and site newsletters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and over one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Field-specific experience preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver's License with no moving violations in the twelve months prior to hire.
