About the Role
Moog is seeking a Cost Accounting Process Analyst to support their Business Process Modernization Program, a major ERP transformation. This role will provide workstream support, contribute to process governance, and ensure high-quality documentation within the ERP team across all transformation phases.
Responsibilities
- Identify, gather, document, and refine business requirements in collaboration with site-based Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Translate requirements into comprehensive process documentation, value stream maps, and system blueprints.
- Consolidate site-specific requirements into a standardized global Cost Accounting template.
- Identify, design, and implement Cost Accounting solutions within SAP S/4HANA aligned to business objectives.
- Develop end-to-end business processes across Cost Accounting, SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling, and integrated systems to drive operational efficiency.
- Support process improvement initiatives, validating and optimizing workflows for enhanced performance.
- Participate in unit, functional, and system integration testing for SAP Cost Accounting and integrated ERP applications, including operational technology components.
- Ensure system configurations align with documented business and site requirements.
- Execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT), training, and deployment readiness activities in coordination with Business Adoption teams.
- Aid in go-live readiness and post-deployment stabilization activities.
- Facilitate master data cleansing and preparation activities to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Develop and maintain key documentation, including Process Definition Documents (PDDs), Process flows (PFLs) and value stream maps, Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), Test scripts and training materials (QRGs, simulations, presentations).
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, external vendors, and system integrators.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder communications to ensure alignment and progress.
- Execute Agile activities, including backlog management, user story development, and retrospectives.
- Define, monitor, and report on business KPIs and performance metrics.
Requirements
- Typically, a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Over (5) years of experience in a Cost Accounting, Finance, or SAP Controlling environment, preferably within a manufacturing, project-based, or Aerospace & Defense setting.
- Working knowledge of SAP cost accounting processes, including SAP FI/CO integration, cost center accounting, internal orders, project/WBS costing, allocations, settlements, and period-end close activities.
- Experience in Cost Accounting subjects, such as standard cost development, annual cost rolls, rate maintenance, and analysis of labor, material, overhead, and burden cost components.
- Experience with actual costing concepts, including the ability to analyze actual labor, material, overhead, WIP, inventory, and cost of goods sold impacts across SAP financial and operational postings.
- Experience with manufacturing variance analysis, including purchase price, usage, labor, overhead absorption, mix, volume, and settlement variances.
- Experience with inventory valuation, work-in-process, cost of goods sold, and reconciliation between operational activity and financial postings.
- SAP Grouping, Pegging, and Distribution (GPD) experience, including understanding how demand is grouped, available material is pegged, and material costs are distributed to WBS elements, or final cost objectives.
- Experience with SAP Controlling master data, including cost centers, activity types, cost elements, internal orders, projects, WBS elements, allocation cycles, and settlement rules.
- Experience troubleshooting SAP costing transactions, data issues, posting errors, and integration points across Finance, Project Systems, Materials Management, Production Planning, Sales & Distribution, and related ERP processes.
- Understanding of Aerospace & Defense business operations, government costing practices, and complex contract types such as T&M, Cost Plus, fixed price, and long-term program accounting is preferred.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret cost drivers, validate financial impacts, reconcile data across systems, and translate findings into clear business actions.
- Ability to document current-state and future-state Cost Accounting processes, identify control gaps, and support standardization within a global SAP template.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple organizational levels, with the ability to explain financial and system concepts to business users, technical teams, and stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Finance, Program Controls, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, IT, and site-based subject matter experts.
- High attention to detail with the ability to maintain a broader business perspective and evaluate how Cost Accounting decisions affect reporting, compliance, and operational performance.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, support testing and deployment activities, and meet deadlines in a transformation program environment.
- Willingness to support approximately 30% travel, both domestic and international.
- This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
