About the Role
The Adult Critical Care Nurse Residency Program is a twelve-month program designed to support nursing school graduates as they transition into their first professional nursing role. The program emphasizes and develops the clinical and leadership skills necessary for the advanced beginner nurse to become a successful part of the critical care health care team.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience.
- Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, continues to build competency in the provision of direct patient care.
- Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
- Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services.
- Works rotating shifts, including 8 and 12-hour shifts, holidays, and weekends per unit policy.
- Participates in either the Medical Track (Medical ICU, NeuroMedicine ICU, Medical ICU and Progressive Care Unit) or the Surgical Track (Surgical ICU, Burn/Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU and Progressive Care Unit SICU).
