About the Role

The Lactation Specialist plays a vital role in providing direct, effective, and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their significant others. This role also facilitates professional nursing practice through clinical expertise and teaching, acting as a preceptor for new staff and students. The Lactation Specialist will educate staff and patients, and support quality assurance and improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current New York State License as a Registered Nurse (or willingness to obtain)
  • IBCLC Certification
  • Minimum of one year acute care RN experience in women’s health or NICU
  • Previous lactation experience
  • BCLS certification
  • Must live within a commutable distance to NYP.
