About the Role

Liberty Resources is seeking Per Diem Residential Specialists for its Oneida Crisis Residence Program. This program offers a therapeutic environment for adults experiencing mental health crises, utilizing peer support and experienced crisis staff to help stabilize individuals and facilitate their safe return to the community. The goal is to prevent unnecessary emergency department visits and hospitalizations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach individuals to view crisis differently and use wellness tools for prevention or de-escalation.
  • Collaborate with Health Homes, hospitals, and treatment providers to create integrated care plans.
  • Provide advocacy, supportive counseling, and referral/linkage services.
  • Deliver recovery-oriented services using Need Adapted Treatment and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Provide program coverage, including overnights, as per the staffing plan.
  • Complete all required documentation in accordance with program standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and 1-3 years of relevant experience working with individuals with Mental Health or Chemical Dependency disorders, or a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Student or intern within a DOH-approved NYS education program, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Counselor (CASAC) also qualify.
  • Work experience in a behavioral health or related setting preferred, preferably using the recovery model.
  • Respect for and comfort with individuals experiencing psychiatric crisis.
  • Ability to use critical thinking, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills to maintain a recovery-promoting environment.
