About the Role
The Nurse Practitioner provides services within the scope of their license and professional standards, meeting agency requirements for client interactions. Responsibilities include medical evaluations, leading wellness groups, and providing psychoeducation to enhance participants' understanding and management of specific disorders.
Responsibilities
- Prescribe and/or administer medication, including injectable and MAT Services, after reviewing the client's medication record and consulting with the client and staff.
- Monitor the effects of medication on clients' mental and physical health, including measuring weight, height, and blood pressure for clients ages 5 and older in substance abuse and mental health programs.
- Document prescriptions, interventions, weight, height, and blood pressure at every visit.
- Follow up on referrals in a timely and professional manner, collaborating effectively to ensure high service provision.
- Participate in the development of new service initiatives, including research, analysis, and report preparation.
- Participate in all CCNS CQI and QA projects.
- Track and maintain paperwork for special programs, such as children's immunization and flu shots.
- Provide and/or oversee supervision of staff and graduate students.
- Work collaboratively with the Psychiatrist and treatment team as a vital part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- New York State Nurse Practitioner License and Current Registration.
- 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current CPR (BLS) and First Aid certification.
- Medicaid Provider Number.
- DEA registration.
- ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) Certification.
- NPI number.
- Must receive Medication Administration Training and become MAT certified within the first 3 months of employment.
- Possess the skills to appropriately assess/de-escalate/intervene in crisis.
- Ability to work flexible hours according to program operational needs.
