About the Role
The Family Support Navigator will partner with and educate families and individuals impacted by substance use disorders. This role involves providing information on addiction, accessing treatment services, and facilitating linkages to care.
Responsibilities
- Engage and partner with individuals using heroin, opiates, and other substances, linking them to substance use disorder services in Monroe County.
- Engage and partner with family members of individuals using substances, providing education and assistance with service accessibility.
- Be available to individuals and families to ensure timely access to services when requested.
- Navigate the Monroe County service delivery system and advocate for the immediate needs of individuals served.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services.
- At least two years of work experience in the human services field.
Skills
- Ability to apply technical and professional knowledge to daily practice.
- Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and understanding of issues affecting individuals and families in the OASAS system.
- Ability to work independently and with flexibility in work days and hours.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to perform well in a team approach.
- Ability to solve complex problems with creative solutions.
- Act consistently in a manner that demonstrates dignity and respect to individuals and families.
- Ability to understand, support, and operate from a strength-based approach.
- Display professionalism in all settings.
- Recognize the importance and benefits of relationship-building and collaborating with other service providers.
