About the Role

Liberty Resources is seeking a Residential Support Specialist for its Crisis Respite Residences. These community-based programs offer a therapeutic environment for adults experiencing a mental health crisis, utilizing a Peer Support Model focused on compassion, empathy, and empowerment. The goal is to stabilize crises, support safe community reintegration, and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial assessments/screenings.
  • Teaches guests to view crises differently and utilize wellness tools to prevent future crises or decrease their intensity.
  • Works closely with Health Homes programs, hospitals, and other treatment providers to develop integrated plans of care.
  • Provides advocacy, support, and referral linkage services for program residents.
  • Provides recovery-oriented services incorporating Peer Support, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed/Responsive care.
  • Provides program coverage as reflected in the staffing plan, including overnights as required.
  • Rotates warm line responsibilities and/or makes follow-up calls.
  • Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Acts as a role model for program residents.
  • Ensures upkeep and cleanliness of the residence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of volunteer or work experience in the Behavioral Healthcare field OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • A respect for and high level of comfort around people experiencing psychiatric crisis.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to incorporate that understanding into service provision.
