About the Role
Liberty Resources is seeking a Per Diem Residential Support Specialist for its Crisis Residence Program. This role involves providing therapeutic support in community-based residential programs for adults experiencing mental health crises, aiming to stabilize individuals and facilitate their safe return to the community.
Responsibilities
- Conducts initial assessments/screenings.
- Teaches guests to view crisis differently and utilize wellness tools to prevent future crises or decrease their intensity.
- Collaborates with Health Homes programs, hospitals, and other treatment providers to develop integrated plans of care.
- Provides advocacy, support, and referral linkage services for program residents.
- Delivers recovery-oriented services incorporating Peer Support, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed/Responsive care.
- Provides program coverage, including overnights as required.
- Rotates warm line responsibilities and/or makes follow-up calls.
- Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Acts as a role model for program residents.
- Ensures the upkeep and cleanliness of the residence.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of volunteer or work experience in the Behavioral Healthcare field OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- A respect for and high level of comfort around people experiencing psychiatric crisis.
- Ability to utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills.
- Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Is sensitive to cultural differences and able to incorporate that understanding into service provision.
